LEAVENWORTH COUNTY, KAN. - SKYFOX captured video of one of the tornadoes that hit the Kansas City metro area Saturday evening.

Tornadoes were confirmed on the ground near Lawrence, and along I-70 in Leavenworth and Wyandotte County near the Kansas Speedway area in the early evening. Then, later in the evening, another round of storms brought a tornado to the Cameron area.

An emergency management official with Leavenworth County said six buildings were damaged. There were homes in Leavenworth County just west of Linwood destroyed by the twister. SKYFOX showed some homes flattened by the storm. Some structures were unrecognizable.

FOX 4′s Dave Dunn reported from I-70 and 206th Street where cars were flipped over, roofs torn off, and people left without homes. He also reported the area was without power.

The tornado stayed on the ground for 15-20 minutes when it hit around 6 p.m. There are no reports of injuries as a result of the tornado.

However, one person was hit by lightening near Clinton Lake.

The races at the Speedway were canceled. The Speedway was not damaged. There was concern as Speedway patrons were evacuated onto I-70 right toward a tornado in the area. Thankfully, no one was injured.

The Speedway races have been rescheduled for Monday morning. However, FOX 4 Meteorlogist Joe Lauria indicates there will be significant rain from Sunday night until Monday morning. So, the race may have a hard time moving forward on Monday.

Near the community of Cameron, a tornado was spotted just after 9 p.m. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
