Mountain Lion Warning Near North State Park

Paradise residents need to watch out for a mountain lion.  Two goats were killed inside a pen adjacent to Bille Park, only a few hundred feet away from a picnic area and playground.  Monday park officials put up signs warning residents a mountain lion has been spotted.  Cougars are uncommon in the park, but not unheard of.  Two years ago, a mountain lion killed two deer in a remote section near the canyon.  Park officials believe this recent attack is an isolated incident, but still residents should take precautions.

Mike Trinca of the Paradise Parks Department told Action News “we just advise you you should go with somebody else.  Bring your dog along with you.  If you have children, just keep a special eye on children.  If the lion is in the area, they’re dangerous animals.”

Park officials are still waiting to hear back from the Department of Fish and Game.
